Urban and Mass Transport

The significant population and economic growth of cities is a major phenomenon in Latin America. This expansion results in the growing demand for more efficient and effective urban transportation. Without proper planning and development, urban transportation can cause significant environmental and social issues, such as poorer air quality and its resulting impacts on human health as well as significant increases in transportation time and cost, thus negatively impacting quality of life. Urban transportation planning and development need to consider all the factors related to efficiency, connectivity and sustainability. Sustainable urban planning promotes a diversified set of transportation modes, attempting to expand mass transit systems and modes with less environmental impact, thus improving quality of life for the urban population.
