Waste Water

Sustainable sanitation should be economically viable, socially acceptable, technically and institutionally suitable, and protect the environment and natural resources. Wastewater infrastructure includes wastewater collection, treatment and disposal. Storm water management can be considered associated with wastewater management. Wastewater infrastructure, in particular that related to wastewater disposal, can have a direct effect on the environment and human health. Various opportunities exist to improve environmental sustainability, such as more efficient wastewater treatment equipment and technologies, wastewater re-use (for agriculture or industrial uses, for example) and use of wastewater sludge for beneficial purposes. Good integrated wastewater planning provides an excellent mechanism to enhance sustainability.
